Buying a Seattle Condo and the parking situation

Published by Michael Kass at 10:36 am under Seattle Condos, Transporation

Recently I was to speaking to several buyers who indicated they “didn’t care” about if their unit came with a parking space because there was plenty of on street parking when they were driving the neighborhood.  I reminded them of what’s happening in certain areas of the city were they are installing parking meters and parking would not be as easy.  One such place is South Lake Union where you can see more and more meters springing up. Several units in some of the bigger Seattle Condo buildings do not come with a parking space.  I guess this is alright if your a out of townee who’s buying the condo to have a place to stay while you are in the City.  But be warned,  I remember the nightmares I heard from my sister who lives in New York City and owned a car, difficult parking situations and the break in she experienced.  But don’t be to upset,  you can always opt to solve it the way she did.  She sold her car and uses public transportation, but hey, its good for your health.   Having lived here close to 25 years I have seen the city growing constantly.  We must remember we are a young developing city and Its feeling more and more like a established major matured metropolitan city.  So before buying a condo without a parking space or if you have a partner or roommate with a car see what the rules in the area are!
